Basing a slurry mix design on low-acid bitumen normally creates problems in the balance between mix time and cohesion build up resulting in too slow cohesion building. In our Redipave system we have been able to combine mix time, cohesion build up and low-acid bitumen. The system is based on Redicote EM44 and phosphoric acid.
A benchmark against our best low-acid bitumen system showed that while both systems gave acceptable mix times, the traffic time for the Redipve system was 30 minutes compared to 90 minutes for the reference. This clearly demonstrates the high performance of the new Redipave system.
